4How the minimum wage affects benefits

The minimum wage can be used to calculate certain benefits, sick pay and other payments. The rules depend on the specific payment.

For example, sick pay is usually calculated from your insured income. If you don’t have the required period of income, the current minimum wage is used for the calculation in the cases set out in the rules.
